About Chocolatier Vandenbulcke

Chocolatier Vandenbulcke is a third generation family business with a passion for tradition and chocolate. The history of our company starts after WW2 in Kortrijk at the Menenpoort.

It all started when André Vandenbulcke and Olga Vandeweege started selling chocolate and candy in their shop. When their supplier of truffles broke down, André was at a loss for what to do. Luckily Olga was up for it and started the production of truffles.

.

Olga made her first truffles on the pool table, with a chocolate tray and a fork, truffle by truffle. The dough was made and kneaded by Olga on the heater, occasionally flanked by her two sons, Philippe and Marc, who had to hold the kettle. This was the beginning of chocolatier Vandenbulcke as she is today.

First Philippe Vandenbulcke joined the company as a chocolatier and later Marc Vandenbulcke. He took care of the sales and the first export and foreign trade fairs.

Today chocolatier Vandenbulcke is known in Belgium and abroad for both traditional and innovative chocolate products.

Today the third generation (Jelle, Luk and Bert) leads the company together with the management.

One of the biggest innovations was launched two years ago.

A VDB team led by Jelle and Luk developed the ‘Petit Melo’.

This is a small unique melo praline with a base of Belgian speculoos, a core of airy sugar foam, covered with two layers of the best Belgian chocolate in various delicious flavours! The Petit Melo is unique in the sense that no other chocolate company offers a similar product! Find out more about the Petit Melo here.

Meet our chocolatier

Throughout the company, in different functions, the Vandenbulcke family remains very present. Because at Vandenbulcke, being a chocolatier is in the family!

In 1972 son Philippe Vandenbulcke, who followed a bakery and chocolate training at the Ter Groene Poorte, joined the chocolatier team of his mother Olga.

Our present chocolatier Luk Vandenbulcke grew up among chocolate. His grandmother Olga Vandeweege and later his father preceded him as chocolatiers for Vandenbulcke.

His goal is to make refined delicious pralines with chocolate of the highest quality!
